How would you react if you learn there are cars on the road driven by blind people?
Believe it or not, the scenario is bound to happen with the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) working steadfast to make this a reality. In July 2, 200, NFB partnered with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, College of Engineering (Virginia Tech) to hold the debut of the first car which can be driven independently by the visually chalenged.
The Ford Escape is equipped with nonvisual interface technology will be driven by a blind individual who will take part at the pre-race activities of the 2011 Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Whether the car driven by a person who cannot see is safe enough to roam around the streets is still a question that will be answered next year. Stay tune.
