Doubts in the Effectiveness of Facebook Ads

Today’s modern marketing strategies in improving sales include advertising in social networking websites. Why not, social sites are accessed by billions of visitors and users daily.

The site eBizMBA Rank regularly ranks popular social websites based on traffic ranking (from Alexa Global Traffic Rank and U.S. Traffic Rank from Compete and Quantcast) and for May, 2012, the top social sites are led by Facebook, Twitter and Linked In. This means that if you are planning to advertise online in social sites, you definitely should consider advertising in Facebook which leads the popularity meter.

However, General Motors Company, one of the largest advertisers in America, doubted the ability of Facebook to turn in customers for them through its paid advertising service. It recently decided to stop paid advertising in the site since GM thinks Facebook is not helping them sell their cars. They will remain using the free advertising service of the social site though.

This decision means million dollars loss for the social website in a year as GM spent about $10 million last 2011 for Facebook advertising.

If you’re interested or in the business of creating online video advertisements, it won’t hurt to consider the result of the survey conducted by Poll Position dot com.

According to the about page of the site, poll position is a non-partisan social media company which do market research by conducting polls online or by phone engaging every American willing to take their surveys.

The poll result on the “online video ads” suggests that customers wanted short ads with not more than 15-second view time. Usually, free contents such as videos are free for viewing but only after you view short online video clips. The survey revealed that 54% of the respondents answered that 15 seconds is the acceptable time in viewing an online video ad prior seeing the free content.

This particular survey is participated by about 1,179 respondents conducted through a telephone survey. A small percentage of 12 percent though think that 30 seconds is the appropriate length.

New Philippine Peso Bills

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) unveiled the new Philippine Peso bills on December 16.

The new bills feature the beautiful tourist spots in the Philippines on its backside. The BSP also claims that there are new security features incorporated in the new banknotes. Although there are different reactions to the design of the new Philippine Peso bills, the BSP has already issued some to different banks. I even had a chance to hold the new twenty peso bill which was brought by a colleague.

Putting Up A Business Is Not Easy

Nowadays, people are not content on just having an employment or a job. Most people are seeking for an improvement of their lives by putting up their own businesses.

But putting up a business is not easy… it entails so much thinking, hardwork, money and creativity. First, you have to start thinking of a business that you are knowleadgeable at and a business that you think would really work. Next, you have to think of a name that would fit your desired business… something that is catchy and would retain in the minds of your target clients. After that, you would have to register your business name with the Department of Trade and Industry or the Securities and Exchange Commission depending on the type of business that you are going to put up. You would also have to formulate your Articles of Incorporation and other documents necessary for your business. There is also a need to open an account with the bank since there would be transactions coming in and out in the future.

These are just the preliminary preparations and more are about to come as the business prospers.

A Fan for Life

I fancy big, modern and well-decorated homes. I have always dreamed of having one myself and probably I can have one in the future. That is why I always love taking trips and visiting model houses. I get different ideas on how to decorate houses and the different motifs that they use.

One thing I have observed in all the houses that I visited is the presence of a fan. I cannot recall a single house I visited that did not have a fan even in one room. That is what made me look for different fan models and came across the Casablanca fans. These fans come in different colors, designs and sizes. They have fans even larger than 52 inches and small ones too.

You can always choose the fan that would suit the size of your room and the motif that you are going to use. The thing I loved most about it is that it comes with a very cute remote control. These fans also look very durable and I think they could last a life time.

Google Will Continue to Operate in China

According to official data, China, being the world’s largest internet network, has a total of 400 million web users. That is why Google reversed its earlier decision that they would no longer bow to government censors and will just shut down their Chinese search engine.

A few months prior to the grant of renewal of its license, Google and the Chinese government had been waging war of words relative to the issues of internet freedom and the strict internet censorship of China which was dubbed as the “Great Firewall of China”.

The word war is now over and Google finally got their license to operate in China renewed. That’s good news to all Chinese web users.
