Training for Android Apps Developers

As the battle of the best OS (operating system) for smartphones continues, the people behind Android is beeping up the competition. It recently launched the “Android Training” in beta, a collection of online resources that will guide Android developers and wannabes build better (and hopefully, the best) applications.

Android by Google still lead the pack as the most preferred OS for Smartphone. Closely behind is Apple’s iPhone OS or iOS, RIM for Blackberry phones, Windows Mobile for Windows Smartphones and Pocket PCs, and Symbian for Nokia phones.

Some of the main topics available under the Android Training resources are: designing multiple screens, improoving layout performance, sharing content, designing effective navigation and monetizing apps.

The resource materials in the form of classes explain the steps required in solving a problem or implementing a feature using code snippets and sample codes. In the Android training page, developers and wannabes are provided assurance that more classes will be added and existing classes will be refined to help trainees create outstanding Android apps.

Dual Core Portable Phone

Dual core and quad core processors for computers and laptops are now the ones being purchased in the market nowadays. If you are still using Pentium IV processors, then you musn’t think twice about replacing it since core processors are way faster than the old ones.

But now comes dual core portable or mobile phones. It’s really amazing how fast mobile phone manufacturers have adapted to the core concept of computers. One of its best example is the LG Optimus 3D. It’s got all the other features a normal phone should have and more. It uses the Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo), upgradable to v2.3 and its CPU is dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 proccessor, PowerVR SGX540 GPU, TI OMAP4430 chipset.

This phone was released in February of this year.

Watching Out For Sony Playstation Phone

I saw two videos featuring Sony’s Xperia branded playstation phone which is now being called the Xperia Play.

It looks like an ordinary mobile phone but has a four-inch display and a slide out game console instead of a slide out QWERTY keypad. It is really made for gaming fanatics who wanted to keep in touch with their games even on the go.

The PlayStation phone will most likely have a 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8255 processor, a battery capacity of at least 1,500mAh, a five-megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash, 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, a microSD slot, SIM slot, micro-USB and a noise-canceling mic.

There’s no news of when this will be out in the market so let’s just watch out for more news updates.

Apple iPad Discounts

The US holidays paved way for Apple to cut down the Apple iPad’s prices. Consumers who bought the iPad online last Friday were given a $41 discount for the models without 3G connection. The lowest price for the device went down to $458.

On the otherhand, the price of a high-end model with a 3G connection and 64 gigabytes of storage was likewise cut down to $41 giving it a price of $788. These prices are still high for me but this is a one of a kind opportunity that Apple gives out discounts to products like this so these people who were able to avail of the discounted prices can be considered lucky enough.

A Christmas Gift For Myself

We worked hard the whole year and when Christmas time comes we always give gifts to our loved ones but we seldom think of buying ourselves a gift.

This year I was thinking of buying something for myself, even a single important thing that I would see everyday and give me encouragement to work hard and earn more. I saw this beautiful mobile phone and I fell in love once again. It’s not my usual Nokia phone… it’s the Samsung Wave 723. It looks so sophisticated and stylish and it’s got the latest Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n that would help me download faster. It also has an 8.0 MP camera that could take good quality pictures whenever I want.

I love the phone, no question about it but as of this moment I’m still deciding whether I would buy it or not.

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 Smartphone is one of the latest smartphones having multiple functionality. This phone has a GPS, Wi-fi, 3G and has an 8 gigabyte of memory which is expandable to up to 32 gigabytes.

It has a 3.2 HVGA+ display, a touchscreen qwerty keyboard plus a slide out qwerty. It can play different Video formats like MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV3 and Audio formats like MP3, AMR-NB, AAC-LC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, WMV, Flac, Ogg Vorbis. This phone however, is initially available in the United States.

My Latest Dream Gadget

The other day, a friend who is working in the Middle East was talking to me about his vacation in December of this year. We also talked about the gadgets that he would be buying to give out to his loved ones here in the Philippines.

He told me that he was supposed to buy an iPhone 4 for himself but since it seems that the iPhones were all sold out, he said that he would just settle for the Nokia N8. I saw a picture of the phone and I immediately fall in love with it. It is a touch phone with a 3.5 inch (640 x 360 resolution) touchscreen. It has a 12 Megapixel camera (with Carl Zeiss optics), Xenon flash, microSD slot, 16GB internal storage, 1200 mAh battery, 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, and HD quality video recording. It even comes in different lovely colors.

Right now, Nokia N8 is my dream gadget.

Pink and Feminine Mobile Phone

I was looking at the latest mobile phone models yesterday in a mall since I am thinking of replacing my three-year old mobile phone. I was thinking that this would be an early Christmas present that I can buy for myself.

Something Pink and stylish caught my eye. When i took a closer look, it was a Nokia C3 mobile phone. I really love the color so I decided to ask for the specifications of this phone. The C3′s screen measures 2.4 inches and has a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels with 262,144 color display. It has built-in music player and FM radio, and has a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack slot.

The phone is likewise WiFi and Bluetooth ready with GPRS/EDGE only and no 3G for mobile internet connectivity. It comes in three different colors: hot pink, slate gray and golden white. I really want the hot pink C3!

HTC Desire Phones Coming Out in October

The first HTC phone that I actually held on my hand was the HTC Touch. It was brought here in the Philippines by a friend who lives in Italy. I have tried using it and I was impressed with its style and features.

In October, two more HTC mobile phones are about to be released, the HTC Desire HD and the HTC Desire Z. Both phones will be featuring Android 2.2 operating system. HTC Desire HD is basically the HTC EVO 4G without the front facing camera and 4G. It has 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen, 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 8 megapixel camera, dual-flash and impressive design.

The HTC Desire Z, on the other hand, features 3.7 inch capacitive touchscreen, 800MHz processor and 5 megapixel camera, it also has a slide out QWERTY keypad for easier typing.

I haven’t tried a slide phone yet so I prefer the HTC Desire Z.
