Fans of the Samsung Galaxy mobile phones await the newest installment in the series. Maybe the popularity of the Galaxy SII, being one of the models leading the pack of Android-powered smartphones, led Samsung to create the now infamous Galaxy SIII.

Unlike Apple’s strategy of keeping their upcoming phone’s features and photo undisclosed until their official press launch, Samsung’s newest Galaxy phone tested the reaction and stirred interest in their product through leaked images and specifications before it finally revealed the official product image of the Samsung Galaxy SIII.

Among the phone’s highlighted and must-check-out features are:

4.8″ HD SAMOLED display
quad-core Exynos processor
8-megapixel camera
1GB RAM
64GB of onboard storage
Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0)

Sweet! The Galaxy SIII is expected to come out this May.

Facebook Buys Instagram

Although most popular social sites have their own photo uploading features, many internet users still use a photo-sharing application. One of the most popular app, which was initially available only for iPhones, is Instagram from instagr.am site.

Instagram became so popular that Twitter actually tried to buy it but Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg made an offer that Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom was not able to refuse. The deal was worth 1 billion US dollars.

Why the price? In the app site, Instagram was described with these words:

It’s a fast, beautiful and fun way to share your photos with friends and family.

Snap a picture, choose a filter to transform its look and feel, then post to Instagram. Share to Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr too – it’s as easy as pie. It’s photo sharing, reinvented.

Oh yeah, did we mention it’s free?

The Simsimi App Addiction

For a few days now, the popular social networking site Facebook is flooded with “Simsimi” statuses and photos. Interestingly, many people, especially the younger ones, like Simsimi, whoever or whatever it is.

Simsimi is a chat robot which responds automatically using conversations input by users. Those who wanted to chat with this now popular robot may choose from three options — by going to Simsimi.com, by downloading the iPhone App through iTunes for Apple-Mac users, or by downloading the Android App for Android powered devices.

Before starting to chat, users are warned that “while using this application, you may be distressed emotionally with the words created by some abusers.” This is so because the application gets chat responses from a base of about 10 million question-and-answer conversations created by users using different languages including Filipino. Simple to romantic, and hilarious to vulgar responses may be expected when chatting with Simsimi.

According to the about page of the site, poll position is a non-partisan social media company which do market research by conducting polls online or by phone engaging every American willing to take their surveys.

The poll result on the “online video ads” suggests that customers wanted short ads with not more than 15-second view time. Usually, free contents such as videos are free for viewing but only after you view short online video clips. The survey revealed that 54% of the respondents answered that 15 seconds is the acceptable time in viewing an online video ad prior seeing the free content.

This particular survey is participated by about 1,179 respondents conducted through a telephone survey. A small percentage of 12 percent though think that 30 seconds is the appropriate length.
