Children Skin Problems

With the changing weather, health problems may arise. For instance, cough, cold, and flu, especially to children, are now common illnesses.

A week ago back, while vacationing in Baguio, I saw some rashes in my son’s skin. Me and my husband thought it was a simple issue of allergy from a barber’s powder which my son playfully dashed on his face. Few days after, we were alarmed that the rashes already occupied his whole face and even spread on his arms and neck. We learned it was german measles or tigdas hangin in Filipino.

There are no exact medicines for german measles and we were taught by wise elders to bathe him with kamias, with english names as carambola or starfruit. We’ve been bathing him with this fruit, which fortunately grow in my mother-in-law’s backyard, and we can already seen signs of improvement in his skin.

It is harder to nurse a child than an adult because you cannot just go ahead and try medications or use
best acne treatment applications. I am sad that my son’s soft and beautiful skin turned rough. I hope it will return to normal soon as I am usually close to tears because of pity whenever I look at him.
