The news for tonight featured the different mall and bazaar sales all over the metro. You can see the influx of shoppers everywhere. I can attest to that. Just this December, I have gone several times to the bargain capital of the Philippines, the Divisoria, and the traffic of people shopping there was close to unbearable. You’d think there’s no global financial crises with the way people shop.
I was particularly interested on the news on Christmas shopping about the tips on how to avoid, if not, lessen, what they call as “Christmas stress.” Each year, I experience this kind of stress especially when its just a week or days before Christmas and I’m not yet done with my Christmas shopping.
I have this habit of personally wrapping all the gifts I give away. That ritual actually makes me happy but since I am a working mom, it gets really tiring. Christmas shopping and wrapping rush contributes to my so-called Christmas stress.
Based on the feature and my personal experience as a voracious shopper, here are some tips on how to enjoy the this season and avoid the stress:
-
Shop early. I have done my shopping since early part of October. Little by little, I was able to complete my shopping list. At the same time also, I was able to take advantage of sale items both in malls and markets and even online.
-
No matter how busy you are, take time to pray, meditate and exercise. These are very important factors of living a healthy life, both physically and spiritually.
-
Appreciate the good things in your life and all your blessings. This season may bring in worries, especially in terms of finances. Counting your blessings would help on appreciating the positive things in your life instead of sulking.
With those, I hope that we would have a very happy and soulful Christmas.
