Are you an MS, MAC or Linux person? If you are an MS user, what version are you using?
I recently switched from using a desktop PC to a laptop and along with the change is upgrading my office to Microsoft Office 2007. Comparatively, it is like switching operating system (OS) from XP to a Vista which is quite drastic for those who are not very techy.
My boss switched to MS together with me since the laptop I am now using is a hand-me-down from her. Since she is the encode-and- print computer user type, she found using MS 2007, particularly MS Word and PowerPoint, difficult while I found the program a bit different at first but later enjoying it tremendously.
The placement of toolbars and tabs are almost entirely different. You need to explore every detail before you find what you’re looking for but once you get to know where the toolbars are, you’ll find navigating MS 2007, a lot better than the earlier versions. It is fun how you can actually customize toolbars and show only the ones you frequently use and hide those you barely need at all.
One without patience would be confused using this new Microsoft Office.I myself made mistakes along the way while familiarizing myself with the program. In fact, until now, I still make booboos saving my files in a format that are not compatible with the MS readers of earlier versions which can be remedied by saving the file to a format that reads MS 97-2003.
All in all, my experience with the new MS 2007 is positive and I would recommend it to those who have patience with technology.
