Aquilion One Ct Scanner

Aquilion One of Toshiba Medical System Corp. is set to open new doors in clinical application. This product innovation scanner contains 320 detector rows ready for commercial launching this year which made it a winner among competing medical equipment vendors.

Some of the outstanding features of Aquilion One includes the one-beat whole-heart imaging where the whole heart can be scanned within one heart beat versus five or more heart beats on 64 slice machines. This dynamic imaging system is expected to set revolutionary ideas in other clinical areas like dynamic orthopedic or oncology imaging.

Other significant benefits of this scanner is the lower radiation dose which results to better clinical outcomes. With Aquilion One, a stroke scan will not include only a non-contrast head and neurovascular computed tomography angiography (CTA) but also a whole-brain perfusion. These procedures will be performed and evaluated in an incredible speed of ten minutes resulting to savings of time and money.

In the Philippines, the exclusive local distributor of Aquilion One is the Philippines Medical Systems Inc.

Wow, 10 minutes, that sounds pretty fast! Any idea how quickly (or slowly?) older scanners took to do the same thing? Did older scanners emit lots of radiation? Never knew that, if so…makes a little scared to use an older model…
