It’s not only once I saw people crying and hysterical because of data loss. Each time I give people assignments to encode, I always tell them to “save, save and save.” The “control S” (ctrl-s) function of the computer is really handy but in case of hard drive crashes, it wouldn’t matter anymore if you have religiously used this function.

I have experienced these dreaded crashed first hand. Luckily, some good people already thought me how to back-up files but I was not able to back-up everything. It was horror each time I would need a file and would realize it’s part of the ones I lost. Data recovery was helpful in restoring my files but not all of it. Most computer users turned to Data recovery at one point or another. Hard drive, no matter how expensive and how good they are, will always encounter problems at some point.

Here are the things you should do to avoid data loss.

  • Always back up your data. There are a lot of ways now on backing-up files. You may burn it in CD or DVD Roms, save it in your USBs or memory cards, or file it in your handy portable hard disks. This way, you’ll be well prepared in the event of a hard-drive disaster.
  • Make sure your computer has enough memory capacity. Adding Computer RAM is helpful. You may go to www.memorydeal.net to shop for DDR PC2700 Memory or to Add IMAC Memory. This site offers only original memory upgrades so you’re sure your computer is safe from potential risks caused by reconditioned or incompatible memory modules.
  • Practice turning off your computer when it isn’t in use. Most computer users with broadband connection these days just leave their computers on even if they’re not in sure. Remember also to shut it down when you hear the hard drive making an odd noise. Once the hard drive starts to malfunction, it will only do more damage if you let it run along. You’ll have a better chance of getting it repaired if you immediately turn it off and take it to a specialist,
  • In case of natural disasters, hackers, viruses, or other problems, you will possibly don’t have to react and before you know it, your hard drive is already damaged and your data, gone. Data recovery will be of use at this point. If you do not know the process of data recovery, don’t even try it. Just take your computer to the specialist.

Data recovery may be costly but it will be better than losing all your files. Better yet, follow the tips and save yourself from data loss grief.
