School Days Rules

Coming from a long vacation, expectantly, our children are now used to sleeping late, even if they need to come to school early. My son, for instance, would not sleep earlier than ten in the evening. And if you allow him, he would really sleep as late as four in the morning. Whew!

Now that his classes starts at 7:30 AM, I really need to regulate his sleeping time so he can complete his needed ten hours sleep before I wake him up at 6:00 AM to prepare for his class. I started this regulation last night and I also suffered. My son won’t sleep without me beside him and he won’t sleep too when the television is on so that means I have to sleep early too and I can’t watch my favorite TV shows. Sacrifices!
More regulations needed to be enforced too not only for him but for my nephews and nieces who are all in elementary. Our kids love playing computer games, they are part of the generation of avid PS3 and PSP lovers. I won’t blame them though, I am addicted to these game consoles too. :D But on school days, they should part with these game machines so they can concentrate on their studies and sleep early.

There are also rules like eating of heavy breakfast before going to school. I personally impose that my son eat rice in the morning instead of just bread. This rule is hard to enforce since my son is not fond of food, healthy food that is. What about you, what are your rules for your children during school time? Are they effective? Share it with us so we can learn from each other.

Education is the process of instruction aimed at the all round development of boys and girls. Education dispels ignorance. It is the only wealth that cannot be robbed.
