I always watch the show “Ang Pinaka” at Q11 which I finds very informative as well as entertaining. Last Sunday’s show featured Ang Pinaka-Dreaded Killer ng Pinoy (The Top Dreaded Killer of Filipinos). I of course watched it earnestly to know which are the causes of death of Filipinos.
To our surprise, about three or four of the killer illnesses featured concerns the lungs. This prove how polluted the air we breathe today is. Of course there are a lot of factors for lung infections and on top of it is inhaling cigarette smoke. My son is lucky because there are no smoker in our household. Other factor for acquiring respiratory disease is long exposure to chemicals or elements like paints or asbestos which leads to mesothelioma or similar disease.
These two are among the best tips given to me in taking care of the lungs aside from the obvious “do not smoke” warning:
- Exercise to increase aerobic capacity. My friend said we should be doing really vigorous exercise that would lead us to gasping our breath which is recommended and would help develop our lungs.
- Breathe in through your nose and not through your mouth. By doing so, the hair in the nose would be bale to filter fumes that comes in our body. We can’t do this if we have cold because our nostril may be blocked.
