Values Development in College Classrooms

What made me landed in this college teaching job was my teaching style which set me apart from the rest of the applicants who showed for the demo teaching I attended at the local college I now teach. Being a trainor for a long time, I have adopted the learning-centered style of teaching which emphasizes the ability of the teacher to make adjustments in her teaching to level with the learning capacity and learning style of her students.

Although its too tiring to practice this style because you’ll be required to think and teach outside of the box, the result is rewarding. Last night, I introduced another activity in my media management class which targets their behavior that unconsciously, do affect their performance in my class (and probably, in their other classes too), as well as their relationship with their teachers, their peers and the school management.

The method I just used with them cost me two hours of classroom time but I believe that if one or two will be touched or affected to change, that long two hours is well-worth it. After all, teachers should be able to help improve not only the mental capacity of her students but her whole personhood.
